Lightning fast road trip
We had a business vacation. The schedule was crazy. We visited 9 states. Visited friends we hadn't seen in a long time. Drove countless hours. We were sleep deprived, dehydrated but happy to have a routine change.
The fall colors were incredible. The weather was nice. It was great to come back home tough.

Wine Festival
Today it was a nippy fall afternoon. Perfect for a wine festival. Specially when you hit the warm wine & spices stand. It was great hanging out with friends in a laid back place where wine was running freely. What can I say? It was a great start for the weekend. Now tomorrow come the gym to work it off those pesky calories that come with the wine...

7 miles later....

Today I had to drop off my car at the shop. It has a serious problem in the transmission but being an eleven years old car this isn't a surprise. So I got up around 6:30am and got ready for some hoofing.
I decided that it wasn't fair to make Mike late for work just to drop off the car, so I went solo.
By 8am I had left the car at the shop and was on the road to get back home. The weather was nice, the sun was shinning, the meadows were dewy, the side walks were, well, non existent.
I'm pretty sure I freaked out many drivers today by walking on the shoulders near the road.
My feet were soaking wet because of the morning dew but the view was simply amazing. It took me a little over 2 hours to get home but I blame that on the countless pit stops to take pictures along the way. I have to account another good 20 minutes at Starbucks to grab a soy latte.
I got home tired and dirty and was going about my day, cleaning the house and caring for the dog when I got a phone call asking if I could dog sit.
I have never said no to a good puppy, so in half hour or so I had a puppy to care for. Then I got another phone call asking to swing by a friend's house to let her dog out to pee and give him some food. She won't get home till midnight. I couldn't say no. Poor dog. The glitch was.... no car today or tomorrow. What can I do?
Bike, of course! I got this nice cruiser bike in the garage accumulating cob webs.
I Googled the address, mapped my route and off I went another 6.9 miles.
That was about 2 hours ago. My feet are beyond sore. I'm Oh so tired. But I have that nice feeling that I did something good and Karma is smiling at me. Now me, my Beagle and the puppy are resting a little and I'm already thinking about dinner. I'll cook something nice tonight with lots of protein. All this walking and biking made me soooo hungry.
Cheers.

I am feeling sore

For the past two weeks I've been going to the gym. I'm trying to watch my weight and get in shape. After years away from the gym the workout is leaving me sore beyond belief.
Today when I walked out of the gym, sore, tired and sweaty, the beautiful sunset that greeted me outside made me smile. Now I share it with everyone, unfortunately the resolution isn't great because I only had my cell phone on me.

Life's good

I cannot get over how good life has been for the past 3 years. It just keeps getting better. I'm really thankful for all the great friends I've made along the way. If it wasn't for them I would've missed out half of the fun in my life. The other half I owe to having some sort of camera always around me.

Hurricane Kyle and my weekend

I apologize in advance for my rant and dingy phone pictures. I'm sleep deprived, tired and extra cranky.
I'd say I'm a quite unique creature as I am an exception of what the world expects of a girl. I don't like pink, or make up or pretty little things or weddings.
I know, I know... I'm planning a wedding of my own. Believe me this is more in honor of our families (whom I adore) than my personal dream. I dislike the whole wed business; dresses, planning, colors, flowers, who to invite and lots, I mean LOTS of wasted time and money.
But what the hay we are on this Earth to celebrate life with friends and this pesky milestone is one of them times.
So we left Friday evening to our friend's wedding. It was a lovely bumpy flight circling nasty looking storms and hours of scrabble and word find games played due to the usual delays.
At this point I'm totally OK with it. It's the nature of the game. So our arrival had minor wrinkles and we made to our final destination around 1am. Not bad since I wasn't getting up before 8am.
Then I had few hours of joy. Going out with my extended family, seeing old friends. Lovely. Later that evening we had duties to fulfill as happy guests so off we went.
The ceremony was, well, boring as all other ceremonies are. The people were stuffy but the wine and music were divine.
Now the only thing left was to go back home. Our flight left in the morning so we should have plenty of time to rest before starting a new week.
As you can see in the pictures hurricane Kyle flushed our plans down the toilet. Our connecting flight was canceled and we were stuck for almost 10 hours in the airport.
After threatening mutiny we got a flight that brought us to an airport about 2 hours away instead of our original destination. We gathered a few strangers that had their cars in the other airport as well, rented a van and drove for 2 hours or so only to find our car with a drained battery.
At this point my night already seemed endless so it couldn't get any worse. I fetched an airport employee that gladly gave us a jump start. Finally the final leg of our ill fated trip. Only another half hour. But of course, the damn night wasn't over.
Five minutes, literally FIVE darn minutes from home the car starts acting up and simply dies in the middle of the freaking road. We were lucky enough to get the car kinda working and made it to our driveway.
I've never been more relieved to be home. Now it was just take the dog out of her crate for a quick pee and off to bed.
My super nice dog sitter had left inside her crate a bowl with water and a bowl with food. So when I take the Beagle out I see plastic bits all over the crate but it was just too late and I was just too tired and pissed to deal with that. I ignored it until this morning.
In a closer inspection I've found broken teeth with the bloody plastic bits.
Those brought me to what I am doing at the moment. Sitting at the Vet's office, waiting to be fit between patients. With a bloody Beagle beside me. My weekend was just great!
